Starting as a community swim for 24 people in 2006, the Point to La Pointe has grown into a thriving race that sells out annually.
The 2021 Point to LaPointe Swim, hosted by the Recreation and Fitness Resources as a fundraiser for the Bayfield Rec Center, is changing due to COVID-19. The Point to LaPointe - 2021 Cliff Swim will deliver a challenging Lake Superior course for swimmers and breathtaking views for spectators atop Bayfield's famous 75' cliffs. The past year has been challenging and unpredictable. We need something to look forward to, and this event will not disappoint. Saturday, August 7, 2021, offers a chance of a lifetime for swimmers and spectators alike!
This one time, coastal, 5k triangular loop course is appropriate for the die-hard competitor and regular water enthusiasts alike. The Point to LaPointe - 2021 Cliff Swim provides a unique opportunity for spectators to view the swim from the scenic Brownstone Trail, walking distance from the race start. The trail follows an old railroad grade just feet from the cliff’s edge, with a birdseye view 75' above Lake Superior. Viewing is also available from the cliffs at Wild Rice Retreat.
